to self: never let Ella play with a scissors again! While I changed a diaper, Ella changed her hair style. Check out http://flickr.com/photos/jacobgraf for pics of her self made style!

I got April Fool’d today by my co-workers. Here’s a little background. Last year for my b-day, no one remembered so I always bring it up. I guess they all got sick of it, because when I came in this morning, they had my cube all decked out. Those presents you see were full of junk. I even got a notepad from Viagra! Many of you already know my motto, but if you dont…

So I was fooling around with one of those carabiner thingys and I broke it (on purpose). I was just dinking around with it and suddenly a spring (and another metal piece) flew out and hit me right in the eye. I was in the middle of a meeting at work and I jumped back and everyone was like, “Are you OK?!” So my eye ball is really sore right now. I hope it doesn’t get worse, but I think it’s going to hurt a lot more tomorrow! Ughh, I have to stop screwing around during meetings!

I am busy with everything under the sun. Traveling to Chicago for work, working on websites, programming, fixing computers, working at church, drumming, Bible studies, and being a Daddy. I am anxiously awaiting Chuck’s wedding as it will be our first ‘out of state without the kids’ trip and the first time we’ll both be away from Bren at the same time!

I’m starting to get a little busy. I’ll be starting to watch this little girl from church Tuesdays - Thursdays. I’m excited to see how having an older girl (she’s 4) will effect Ella. I also am organizing a food drive at our church so things will probably start to pick up with that soon. It seemed like I lived at church this last week - I had a meeting on Monday, handbook lead for AWANA on Tuesday night, volunteered for a field trip helper on Wednesday, Moms group on Thursday and today is the first day I haven’t been over there! It’s too bad we live on the opposite side of town and gas is almost 3.50. Not cool! Anyways, I couldn’t think of a better place to spend my time and the kids absolutely love it there and are well taken care of so it’s a great time!

I’m finally starting to feel a little better. I had the stomach flu really bad since Friday. My mom ended up driving here at 5:30 in the morning on Sunday. Jacob had to drum all 4 services and I definitely wouldn’t be able to take care of the kids myself. I ended up having to have my brother drive me to the ER later Sunday morning and I needed an IV and some nausea medicine and now I’m finally getting a little more energy back. This was probably the quickest diet ever, but definitely not something worth repeating anytime soon! I’m still barely holding down toast and soup so hopefully soon I’ll be able to eat something with a little flavor! It’s been a long week and I’m looking forward to a somewhat relaxing weekend. I’m so thankful no one else in the house caught what I had - hopefully it stays this way!

We went back to Rapids for the weekend. Friday night my parents took Bren and it was a great time to spend with just Ella - even if it was out in the freezing cold blizzard feeding smelly baby cows in a smelly barn. I used to think farming would be kind of fun, but definitely not! I thought kids were a lot of work! Saturday we celebrated Easter with the Grafs and Sunday we celebrated with my family. It was great to separate it out to two different days. Although, I think we eat much less when it’s just one day! We had a lot of fun and it’s always great getting to go back home and visit with our families. I’ll work on getting all the pics up sometime this week.

Not a whole lot is new really. I did go a little crazy at the hair place tonight and got my hair major chopped - like up to my chin chopped! Otherwise I’m busy with my Moms Bible Study - I’m in a group studying the first half of Acts. Tuesdays I help handbook lead for 3-6th graders in AWANA at church. So we’re back and forth from church quite a bit. When it comes time to start looking for a house it would probably be a good idea to be closer to church. I’m on a cooking and baking spree lately which I’m sure Jacob & the kids aren’t complaining about!

Ella’s world revolves around play dough, bird/worm watching, jumping, and going to Wal-Mart. It’s sad that our daughter loves Wal-Mart trips and even can tell you where to turn to get to Wal-Mart! She’s really starting to use at least 5-6 words at a time and making sense. It’s nice that she can intelligently communicate now! Sometimes she reverts to screaming and tantrums, but Mom & Dad (and the general public (and probably most of all our neighbors) are hoping we’re on the up swing away from this stage!

Ella has been saying some of the cutest things lately. The robins are back in our yard and she calls them “Baby Chickens” and then ‘tweet tweets’ at that for a good 2-3 minutes or until they fly away! She also yells “come here birdies” over and over again at the window. She has even taken to knocking at the window and telling them ‘get the snakes’ (I think she means worms).
I have no idea where she came up with this one! We bought her a mini trampoline (like the workout kind) and she loves to jump on it. Just lately she has started to call it her jumpoline. It’s too cute!
She’s also obsessed with bubbles. They make this wonderful little jug that is unspillable (if that’s a word) and it really works! After a week of blowing bubbles she still exclaims “BUBBLES” each and every time she blows them! I wish I could have some of that excitement over something so simple (or over anything for that matter). Lately, she tries catching them on her tongue and it’s absolutely side splitting hilarious to watch! She follows them almost down to the carpet, but I don’t think she has managed to snag one yet!

Ella definitely does not like the Easter Bunny! Even though she got fun things like candy, a bubble gun, a shirt, and some socks - she still isn’t a very big fan! The Easter Bunny came up to visit her at the Ridges (Lisa’s family went out and celebrated Easter) and she screamed loud enough that I’m surprised glasses didn’t shatter! Ella didn’t really appreciate the farming life when we went to visit the baby cows. She must take after her father! When Lisa finally unloads the camera card of the past 250 pictures you can see lots of fun pictures from the farm.

Ella loves to watch the pictures go by on the screen saver. Of course when Bren was born, Jacob couldn’t resist taking a picture of his swollen parts. That picture happened to pop up today and Ella said, “Brenny’s Tail!” Hilarious! It’s surprising she even knew it was Bren, because the nurse was standing over him suctioning his nose and throat and you could only see from his belly down. ‘Tail’ is better then what Jacob was trying to teach Ella to call it - ‘package.’

“Ella Do” is about all we hear from Ella lately! She is getting to be so independent and doesn’t want mom and dad’s help anymore. She’s a great helper with Brennan, which makes things easier for mom and dad. She just started to say ‘hippopotamus’ and it is the cutest thing in the world! ‘Sit me’ is another favorite phrase - we’re working on the ‘by’ part! Life with a two year old is definitely full of challenges, but the expressions and new words and hugs and kisses and ‘uvs you’ make it all worth it!

Brennan started this week out with a mouth full of gums and no teeth. He’s ending he week now with 4 brand new little pokey teeth! They aren’t fully out, but you can feel them and see them. It’s been a long and sleepless week for Mom & Dad (mostly Mom, though!) but he’s finally getting used to them. Today he finally popped back on the morning and afternoon nap and to bed by 7:30 routine. Hopefully, he stays asleep and quiet until at least 6 tomorrow morning like usual! Our little baby is growing up so fast ... teeth today driver’s license tomorrow!

Daddy took Bren to his 6 month check up on Monday. Everything checked out great. He weighs in at about 17lbs and that would only be in the 50th percentile. He is almost 29 inches long and that’s the 95th percentile and his head is somewhere in the 50th percentile. Since I wasn’t there I can’t attest to who had more tears - Daddy or Bren - when Bren needed his shots. My bets are on Bren, but I’m sure Daddy had his share, too! Bren is definitely a growing boy! He has finally started to enjoy (or at least willingly opens his mouth) for his rice cereal. He eats that at least twice if not three times a day. He’s also drinking more formula because Mom just can’t keep up with the hungry little man. He and Ella have started to enjoy baths together. Bren quickly outgrew the infant sink tub thing. It’s adorable how Ella is always hugging and kissing and wanting to hold him. She has her moments, but moments with the two together so nice make it all worth it!

Brennan had a fun Easter. The Easter Bunny brought him some yummy baby food snacks and a pair of cute little shoes. He had a fun time hanging out with Mungy & Papa while the rest of us went with the Grafs to visit a farm. 4 hours was the longest he was away from both Mommy & Daddy and he did pretty well! (Mungy & Papa are Lisa’s parents’ in Ella’s language)

Bren ate a little rice cereal & applesauce (like less then an eighth of a teaspoon) today and didn’t puke it all up for the first time. There’s hope that he doesn’t have allergies! Maybe the last times we tried it was just too early! 6 months has really flown by fast. He is rolling over, squirming around, and started with the mama and dada sounds this week. It seemed to take Ella forever to get to this point! He loves to jump in the jumper and exersauce in the exersaucer!

If you haven’t heard about it yet, Hulu launched last Thursday. I think ABC or NBC owns it. It’s a website where you can watch full movies and TV shows for free! You don’t even need to sign up! http://www.hulu.com/
